Vester Spires

Vester Spires, age 79 of 611 Main St., Abbeville, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013 in the Medical Center of Central Georgia.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, May 27th in the Lebanon Baptist Church.Reverend Jim Faircloth, Reverend Tommy Baker and Reverend Chuck Taylor will officiate.Interment will be in the family plot in the Lebanon Cemetery. Mr. Spires was born on May 1, 1934 in McRae.He was son of the late Lester Spires and Margie Scarborough Spires.He was a retired employee of Cannon Dairy in Abbeville.He was a member and deacon of Lebanon Baptist Church.He was preceded in death by two sons-Sylvester and Raymond Spires and two sisters-Faye Beasley and Betty Ryals. Survivors include:wife-Mary Etta Spires of Abbeville and Ronald (Belinda) Spires of Abbeville, daughters-May Helen (Charlie) Johnt of Front Royal, Virginia, Marilynn (Donald) Brown of Eastman, Rochelle (David) Killiebrew of Abbeville and Jennifer (Keith) Shepherd of Abbeville, brothers-Chester, Jack and Steve Spires all of McRae, 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Sunday, May 26th in the funeral home. Frazier and Son Funeral Home in Rochelle is in charge of arrangements.
