William Wright Tomberlin

William Wright Tomberlin, age 82 of Abbeville, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010 in the Dorminy Medical Center.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 9, 2010 in the Abbeville United Methodist Church.Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM in the church.Reverend Gary Carter and Reverend Jim Faircloth will officiate.Interment will be in the Stubbs Cemetery. Mr. Tomberlin was born on June 2, 1927 in Abbeville.He was son of the late George Samuel Tomberlin and Martha Lou Rogers Tomberlin. He was retired from Rayonier as a Star Deck Operator.He was also employed with Dorsey Funeral Home and Tomberlins Phillips Sixty Six Service Station during 1950’s and 1960’s.He was a member of the Abbeville United Methodist Church, the Bethel Sunday School Class, and the Board of Trustees.He served his country with honor in the United States Army-Airforce.He was preceded in death by sisters-Sue Henderson, Lura Handley and half brother-Willie Tomberlin. Survivors include; wife-Betty Robitzsch Tomberlin of Abbeville, son-Gene(Marcia)Tomberlin of Abbeville, daughters-Caryl Sue (Randy) Crenshaw of Cordele, Kem (Marty) Bloodworth of Pineview, and Kerri (Tony) Strickland of Abbeville, sister-Jo McKenzie of Duluth, 9-grandchildren and 6-great-grandchildren. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Abbeville United Methodist Church, 233 S. Broad St., Abbeville, Ga. 31001 or to the Stubbs Cemetery, C/O Carol Culpepper, 113 Riverside Dr., Abbeville, Ga. 31001. Frazier and Son Funeral Home in Rochelle is in charge of arrangements.
