Wayne "Butch" Thompson

It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne "Butch" Thompson Jr. on September 21, 2024 in Wilcox County, Georgia. Butch was born on November 6, 1970 in Buena Vista, Georgia.  It is during his time in Americus, Georgia that he met the love of his life, Amy.  Together they created a life grounded in love for each other and the family that they created.  They filled the years with shared passions, interests and laughter.

Butch was an avid lover of fishing, kayaking, long walks around the homestead land, and being in his favorite place Apalachicola, Florida with his family and friends. He had a knack for tinkering with computers and IT projects, but above all he was a passionate guitarist who always had one within arm’s reach.  His sense of humor was one most appreciated by those that were closest to him.

Butch was a valued employee and a respected Director of Operations across south GA for Reynolds Foodliner Inc./Ace Hardware.

He is survived by his wife, Amy Holloway Thompson, a son, Jonah Thompson, a daughter, Nora Thompson, his mother, Dianne Thompson, his sisters, Patsy Rust (Michael) and Jill McKee (Mike), nephews Mike Rust (Katie), Josh Lloyd (Tina), and Gage Brazie (Cara) and a best friend/chosen brother, Paul Bush.  He was preceded in death by his son Nicholas Thompson and his father, Wayne Thompson, Sr.
