Viola Childs

Viola Childs, age 85 of 18502 Hwy. 129, Abbeville, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2013 in the Crossview Care Center in Pineview.Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, September 2nd in the Cedar Creek Cemetery.Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Sunday, September 1st in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Rhodes, 18600 Hwy. 129, Abbeville, Ga.Reverend Jim Faircloth and Reverend Johnny McDuffie will officiate.Interment will be in the family plot in the Cedar Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Childs was born in Owensboro on October 9, 1927.She was daughter of the late Roy McWhorter and Ruby Gibbs McWhorter.She was a member of the Cedar Creek Baptist Church and was a homemaker.She was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Hamsley and a brother-Eugene McWhorter. Survivors include:Husband of 61 years-Thomas E. Childs of Abbeville, sons-Roy E. Childs of Abbeville and David W. (Joy) Childs of Abbeville, daughter-Ruth Ann (Johnny) Rhodes of Abbeville, , 2-grandchildren-Johnathan Rhodes of Abbeville and Heather (Kevin) Hall of Rebecca. Frazier and Son Funeral Home in Rochelle is in charge of arrangements.
