Vernon Standridge

Vernon Standridge, age 83 of Abbeville, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2014 at his residence.Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 9th in the Morningside Cemetery in the family plot..Visitation will be at the cemetery after the service.Pastor Jason Newell and Reverend Andy Standridge will officiate. Mr. Standridge was born on June 21, 1931 in Rochelle.He was son of the late Jennings Bryan Standridge and Ola Keene Standridge.He was a Deacon and member of the First Baptist Church of Rochelle, the Golden Voices Choir and the Guy Fitzgerald Sunday School Class. He was a retired electrician from Georgia Pacific in Vienna.He served his country with honor in the United States Air Force.He is preceded in death by a sister, Lynn Maloy. Survivors include:son-Reverend Andy (Sabrina) Standridge of Hawthorne, Florida, daughters-Joy (Wayne) Standridge Mock of Lawrenceville and Gaye (John) Standridge Hayes of Americus, brothers-Jennings (Betty) Bryan Standridge, Jr. of North Carolina and Bill (Ann) Standridge of Covington, sister-Mary Hale of Jacksonville, Florida, grandchildren-Valerie Mock, Victoria Mock, Jackson Hayes, Sydney Hayes and Emma Hayes, and special and devoted caregivers-Jackie and Freddy Buckholts. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Rochelle, Attn:Royal Brown, P. O. Box 556, Rochelle, Ga. 31079. Frazier and Son Funeral Home in Rochelle is in charge of arrangements.
