Thomas Milton Whittle, age 79 of Rochelle, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010 in the Tift Regional Medical Center.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 7 in the New Providence Primitive Baptist Church.Elder Raybon Lord and Elder Fred Gordon will officiate.Interment will be in the New Providence Cemetery. A Wilcox County native, born April 15th, 1930 to Joseph Day and Jennie Elmer Wisham Whittle.He resided on the family farm his entire life.He married Azilee Barker Whittle on June 10, 1949.The couple recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.Milton was a lifelong farmer and held numerous positions in Agricultural Programs.These included director for FHA, Farm Bureau, District Supervisor of Ocmulgee Soil and Water Conservation and Pine RD & C to name a few.He was Justice of the Peace, member of the Wilcox County Democratic Committee and supervised many elections in Double Run and Rochelle.He was a Deacon and longtime member of New Providence Primitive Baptist Church.He served more than 20 years as clerk of the Pulaski Primitive Baptist Association.He leaves behind a wife and two children.A son, Thomas (Tommy) Milton Whittle, Jr., (Deenia Tomberlin Whittle), and a daughter, Pamela Whittle Willoughby (James Willoughby).Grandchildren:Mandi Cole (Jason), Scarlett Alberson (Lance), Joy Pate (Josh), Tamzy Whittle, Greg Mattson, Jr., and Amber Mattson, 5-great-grandchildren:Brady and Katie Scarlett Alberson, Laina Lee and Lauryn Pate, and Shelby Cole.Extended family:Chad Willoughby (Melinda), Brandy Moore (Jason), Anthony Willoughby (Tara), Austin, Breanna and Alyssa.Loving sisters, Brooks Whittle Martin, Lottie Whittle Tyler. The family suggests that memorial be made to the American Heart Association.
