Tharpe A. Rhodes

Tharpe A. Rhodes, age 94, of Pineview, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021, in the Georgia War Veterans Home, Milledgeville.He was a retired insurance agent with the Wilcox County Farm Bureau, a member of Friendship Baptist Church where he was a song leader for over 50 years, and former Sunday School Director.He was also a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict, a member of the Charles Bass Masonic Lodge #130, Rochelle Masonic Lodge #190, and received his 70 year membership award in 2019. Mr. Rhodes was born May 12, 1926, in Pineview, to the late James Frank Rhodes and Odessa Martin Rhodes.He was also preceded in death by his wife-Martha Howell Rhodes, and five brothers and sisters.Survivors include his sons, Jim Rhodes of Atlanta, Tim Rhodes of Pineview, and Tony Rhodes (Leigh) of St. Simons Island; a daughter, Joni Wilson of Pineview; his grandchildren, Heather Hardy, Heath Wilson (Mindy), Shane Rhodes (Jenna), Shawn Rhodes (Dannielle), Misti Rhodes, Heidi Wilson, Breanna Rhodes, Tresher Rhodes, and Tate Rhodes; and his great-grandchildren, Drew and Quinn Hardy, Jude, Knox, Anden and Asher Rhodes, Charli and Andy Wilson. A graveside service will be held Friday, March 12th, at 2:00 p.m. at Friendship Cemetery with Rev. Larry Wilbanks and Jerry Rhodes officiating.Visitation will follow the service at the gravesite.
