Sheriff Robert Daniel Rodgers

Sheriff Robert Daniel Rodgers, age 52, of Rochelle, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023.  He has been the Sheriff of Wilcox County since 2016.  He was formerly an Investigator with the Twiggs County Sheriff’s Department from 2001-2012, and then was an Investigator of Crisp County from 2012-2015.  He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Rochelle, the Rochelle Lions Club, and the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association.

Sheriff Rodgers was born August 24, 1971, in Taylor County, Georgia.  His father was the late Robert Clifford Rodgers, and his mother is Virginia Blakely Rodgers of Abbeville.  He is also survived by his wife, Dr. Haley McCall Rodgers of Rochelle; his son, Robert Tyler Rodgers (Peyton) of Forsyth; his brothers, Robbie Rodgers of Tampa and Andy Rodgers (Melissa) of Bonaire, Mason English, and Jayson Rodgers; his granddaughter, Charlie Michelle Rodgers; his extended family, Evelyn Cottle Rigdon; Betty McCall; Mark McCall (Brandi), Riley, Parker, and Emily; David McCall (Christy), Rigdon and Britt McCall; Rachael Becker (Ryan), Eli, Evie, and John; Wesley White; and a host of other family members and friends.  He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, John David McCall.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 2nd, at 2:00 p.m. in the Wilcox High School Gym, with Rev. Richard Compton officiating.  Interment will follow in the Christian Home Cemetery with a Presentation of the Honor Guard.  Visitation will be at the First Baptist Church of Rochelle on Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donation may be given to the Sheriffs’ Boys Ranch, 5671 Boys Ranch Rd., Hahira, GA 31632.
