Shelton Othelle Mcwhorter

Shelton O. McWhorter, age 82 of Pitts, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2010 in the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, November 16 in the M. G. Frazier Memorial Chapel of Frazier and Son Funeral Home.Reverend David Clark will officiate.Interment will be in the Christian Home Cemetery. Mr. McWhorter was born on October 6, 1928 in Owensboro, Georgia.He was son of the late Lawson M. McWhorter and Ethel Hansard McWhorter.He was a retired Chief Ranger of the Wilcox County Unit of the Georgia Forestry Commission and he was a Baptist.He served his country with honor in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.He was preceded in death by a son, Terry McWhorter in 2008. Survivors include:wife-Mildred McWhorter of Pitts, sons-Larry and Jon McWhorter both of Pitts, daughters-Carol Tyson of Albany and Beverly Landers of Pitts, brothers-Autrey McWhorter of Pitts, Harold McWhorter of Roswell, and Bobby McWhorter of Macon, and 6-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Monday, November 15 in the funeral home.
