Mother, Samama and Gert were all loving names given to her by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As each new generation of relatives came, the one constant has always been Sarah Peavy. Here follows just a few of the many of her wonderful traits in her 91 year legacy. Each child, each grandchild, and each great-grandchild felt her love and support throughout their lives. Each was touched by her special strength and warmth, humor and just plain fun to be with. As a devoted member of Abbeville First Baptist Church, she served in many different capacities over the years. She retired from Robins Air Force Base, Civil Service, but also worked at many other positions throughout her life as she worked alongside her husband, Raymond, in helping to provide for her beloved family. As an avid reader, she kept the Abbeville librarians busy. Her lamp stayed on every night as she “just could not put down” any book she had started. She also read the Bible from cover to cover every year. Watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy were TV shows she tried hard not to miss, along with all the cooking channels and Hallmark. As time goes by, PBS, one of her favorites. Her youngest daughter followed her mother’s love of reading with her own-winning many summer reading contests. She was an enthusiastic fan and cheerleader of all things “Abbeville” as her children attended school throughout the years. She especially enjoyed basketball games as she watched her son and his fellow classmates play. Her affection for all her children’s classmates was true and sincere and she always kept up with each of them, wishing them well. She was preceded in death by her much loved husband of 61 years and her wonderful grandson, Terrence Peavy.Survivors include:Daughters-Emily (Clark) Peavy and Susan Peavy, son-Ray (Claudia) Peavy, grandsons-Eric (Yolanda) Jones, Travis Peavy and Justin Bloodsworth, granddaughters-Becky (Dennis) Rhodes, Shannon Morris and Karan Burch, great-granddaughters-Kristene Peavy, Jade Jones, Hali Jones, Josey Lee and Gracey Lee, great-grandsons-Jackson Rhodes, Jeremy Rhodes and Beau Burch, brother-Jim (Vicki) Head, sisters-Doris Sauls and Ruby (Buddy) McCarty and many other much loved relatives and several half brothers and sisters.
