Sam Owens

Sam Owens, age 83, of Oakfield, Georgia, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2020, at the Shands Hospital, Gainsville, Florida.He was a welder with Divine Machine Works, an avid hunter and fisherman, and was a Baptist by faith. A private interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Cordele, Georgia. Mr. Owens was born July 19, 1937, in Pitts, to the late John Curtis Owens and Martha Omie Warren Owens.He is survived by his wife Barbara Owens of Oakfield; a son, David Owens of Oakfield; three daughters, Wendy Pope (Robby) of Rochelle, Peggy Wright (Mike) of Oakfield, and Brigitte Friz (Howie) of Sylvester; a sister, Jackie Childree of Darien; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
