Robert Braziel

Robert Braziel, age 94 of 965 5th Avenue, Rochelle, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 in the Northside Villa Retirement Home.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 5th in First Baptist Church of Rochelle.Reverend Phillip West will officiate.Interment will be in the family plot in the Morningside Cemetery with Military Rites. Mr. Braziel was born on December 28, 1920 in Rochelle.He was son of the late Ernest Braziel and Ella Mae Whitten Braziel.He was Owner/Operator of Braziel Merchantile Company and member of the First Baptist Church of Rochelle.He was former Mason in the Rochelle Masonic Lodge #190.He operated Roberts Grocery for many years and helped organize the First Youth Baseball Program and coached the Merchant’s Little League Team.He was also former Rochelle City Clerk and Courier for Purolator.He served his country with honor in the United States Air Force during World War II.He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Ruth Reed Braziel. Survivors include:son-Randy (Lorelei) Braziel of Camarillo, California, daughter-Seleta Braziel of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, grandchildren-Myranda (C. J.) Huck, Lorissa (Gary) Hays, Jessica Braziel, Rebecca Braziel, Raigan Burgett, Katie and Shaun Moreland, Rebekah and Jeremy Stallings, great-grandchildren-Randall Reed Braziel, Anabella Stroud, Kaden, Chase, Tayler and Mabrey Stallings, Dakotah and Savannah Wilson and Braydin Moreland. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Wednesday, February 4th in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Friends of Morningside Cemetery, the First Baptist Church of Rochelle, or the charity of choice.
