Rachel Adams

Rachel Calhoun Adams (84) of Rochelle Ga passed away on 18 Jan. 2016 in the company of her family and friends after a lengthy illness.Rachel was the daughter of Rob and Willie Calhoun and grew up in the Double Run Community, south of Pitts GA.Rachel attended the Pitts GA school and upon graduation was the Valedictorian of the 1948 Senior Class.Rachael had aspired to become a Missionary but J.N. (Than) Adams was able to persuade her to become a farmers’ wife.Together, Rachel and Than became a strong, hardworking team and made their life together on a farm south of Rochelle GA. The Lord, Jesus Christ, Family and Double Run Baptist Church were the focal points of Rachel’s life.Rachel taught Sunday School for 70 years and organized the Vacation Bible School at Double Run Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 20, 2016 in the Double Run Baptist Church.Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Tuesday, January 19th in the funeral home.Reverend Ed Reeves, Reverend Quillian Barfield and Reverend Ray Johnson will officiate.Interment will be in the family plot in the Double Run Cemetery. Rachel is survived by J.N. Adams her husband of 67 years and two daughters, Deborah A. Roberts (Bill) and Cynthia A. Johnson (Ray), four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters. Music will be provided by Janice Crenshaw, Joyce Davis and the congregation.Selections will be “Thank You for Giving ToThe Lord”, “Blessed Assurance”, and “What A Day That Will Be”.
