Culpepper, age 87 of 113 Riverside Drive, Abbeville, Ga. passed away Friday, August 7, 2009 at his residence.Graveside services were held at 10:00 AM Monday, August 10 in the Stubbs Cemetery in Abbeville, Ga.Rev. Tony Dixon and Rev. Jim Fairclothofficiated. Mr. Culpepper was born on January 25, 1922 in Scott County, Mississippi.He was son of the late Jeff and Ellie Williamson Culpepper.He served his country with honor in the United States Army in World War II, was a farmer, electrician, plumber, welder and was retired from the Abbeville Housing Authority as Maintenance Manager.He had many friends and neighbors and was of the Baptist faith.He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Catherine Culpepper, three children, five sisters, and three brothers. Survivors include:wife-Carol Culpepper of Abbeville, Ga.,sons-Ronald (Amy) Culpepper of Abbeville, Ga.,Mike (Debbie) Sherret of Fitzgerald, Ga.,Edward Earl Culpepper of Brandon, Miss., Earnest Culpepper of Florence, Miss., and Melton Culpepper of Lake, Miss, daughters-Gerry Lynn Griffin of Fitzgerald, Dianne Burkes of Forest, Miss., Sandra Creel of Florence, Miss., Patsy Leach of Lake, Miss., and Linda Milling of Decatur, Miss., Marie Hollingsworth of Decatur, Miss., and Bonnie Carol Boyd of Florence, Miss. 26 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were:Active-Mike Cook, Glenn Cook, Hunter Cook, Tony Strickland, James Statham, Chad Davis and Frankie Wilson.Honorary were the Deacons of Abbbeville First Baptist Church-Harry Walker, Marvin Dix, Daryl Bloodsworth, W. L. Taylor, L. A. Bowen, Carl Gillespie, Jr. and Charlie Coleman. Music was provided by Rev. Tony Dixon and the congregation. Frazier and Son Funeral Home in Rochelle was in charge of arrangements.
