Nellie Laverne Laster

Laverne Laster, age 91 of Abbeville, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011 in the Northside Villa.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, July 2 in the Kramer Baptist Church Christian Life Center.Reverend Howard Gibbs, Reverend Talmadge Wilcox , Dr. Jeff Laster and Reverend Hicks Brown will officiate.Interment will be in the family plot in the Morningside Cemetery. Mrs. Laster was born on June 7, 1920 in Seville, Ga.She was daughter of the late William Issac Harpe and Celia McGinty Harpe.She was a member of the Kramer Baptist Church and was the oldest living member.She was church treasurer and Sunday School Teacher.She was a homemaker. Survivors include:sons-Ted (Helen) Laster of Hawkinsville, Jack (Maurice) Laster of Rochelle, and Roger (Sandy) Laster of Macon, daughters-Gail Brown of Perry, Pat (Jimmy) Culpepper of Cordele, Betty Welch of Arcadia, Florida, Peggy (Clifton) Osborne of Wewahitchka, Florida and Connie Laster of Americus, 15-grandchildren, 35-great-grandchildren, 2-great-great-grandchildren, 2-step-grandchildren, 5-step-great-grandchildren and 5-great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Friday, July 1 in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Kramer Baptist Church, C/O Nancy Martin, 1650 American Legion Rd., Abbeville, Ga. 31001. Frazier and Son Funeral Home in Rochelle is in charge of arrangements.
