Myrtle C. Britt

Myrtle C. Britt, age 88, of Pitts, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022, in the Tift Regional Hospital, Tifton, Georgia. She was a retired secretary with the Wilcox County School System, and a member of the Pitts Baptist Church. “Myrt” loved to read, loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren.
She was born May 10, 1933, in Sumter County (Desota), to the late Willis Nelson Dowdey and Lovella Taylor Dowdey. Survivors include her husband, Coley Britt; her daughters, Lisa Lamb (Dion), and Loria Hauesler (John); her adopted sister, Lisa Owens; 9 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a son, Ricky Conselyea; a daughter, Debra Forehand; 2 sisters, Doris McCrary and Sue Leviner; a brother Sonny Dowdey, and a step-son, Evans Britt.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 19th, at 1:00 p.m. in Union Cemetery with Rev. Quillian Barfield officiating.
