Mavis G. Gordon

Mavis Gordon, age 89, of Rochelle, passed away Monday, July 5, 2021, in Pruitt Health and Rehabilitation Center, Fitzgerald, Georgia.She was a long-time member of Christian Home Baptist Church, and was a retired school teacher with the Wilcox County School System. Mavis was born September 30, 1931, in Rochelle, Georgia, to the late Andrew Gibbs and Nettie Owens Gibbs.She was also preceded in death by her husband, John A. Gordon, and her daughter, Marie Bartholomew.Survivors include her son-law, Brad Bartholomew of Apollo Beach, Fla., her grandchildren, Kristina Bartholomew, Jon Bartholomew (Heather); and her great-grandchildren, Stella and Sterling Bartholomew. A funeral service will be held Friday, July 9th, at 11:00 a.m. in Christian Home Baptist Church with Rev. David Clark officiating.Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
