Mary Frances Purvis

Mary Frances Purvis, age 89 of Abbeville, formerly of Thomson, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014 in the Crossview Care Center.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, June 22nd in the Sweet Water Baptist Church in Thomson.Visitation will be held at the church from 1:30-2:30 PM.Reverend J. B. Redd will officiate.Interment will be in the family plot in the Sweet Water Cemetery. Mrs. Purvis was born on September 14, 1924 in Thomson, Ga.She was daughter of the late Omer L. Guy and Elma Tankersly Guy.She was a member of the Sweet Water Baptist Church in Thomson, Ga. where she played the piano and later became organist for over 70 years.She was retired from the Garment Industry as Secretary for the Thomson Company.She was the wife of the late Lewis Frank (Doc) Purvis. She is survived by three sisters, Roberta Wood of Abbeville, Louise Morris of Covington and Dorothy Coleman of Atlanta and several nieces, a nephew and several great nieces and great nephews. The family request that donations be made to the Sweet Water Renovation Fund, 1606 Wrens Hwy., Thomson, Ga. 30824. Frazier and Son Funeral Home in Rochelle and Curtis Funeral Home in Thomson are in charge of arrangements.
