Marvin C. Dix, age 97 of Abbeville, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018 in the Northside Villa in Rochelle.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 9th in the Abbeville First Baptist Church.Reverend Chuck Taylor will officiate.Interment will be in the family plot Mt. Zion Cemetery. Mr. Dix was born on April 23, 1921 to the late Albert J. Dix and Kate Evans Dix.He was a rural mail carrier with the US Postal Service for 43 years.He was a member and deacon of the Abbeville First Baptist Church, member of the Abbeville Lions Club and the Wilcox County Farm Bureau.He was former member of the Western Light Masonic Lodge #272 and the Shriners ,,and attended Mercer University and Georgia Military College. He served his county with honor in the Air Force during World War II.He was top gunner on B29 in Pacific Theater and earned the distinguished flying cross.He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte “Muddy” Jenkins Dix. Sisters- Alberta Dix Anderson and Joe Ann Dix Barley. Survivors include:daughter-Glenda Kate Dix Cason of Americus, sister-Daisy Moody of Jesup, 2-grandchildren-Chad and Katie Cason and 3-great-grandchildren-Austin, Chance and Caden Cason. Visitation will be from 2-4 PM Saturday, December 8th in the Dix Farm Home, 3977 Hwy 129 South, Abbeville, Ga. 31001. The family will receive flowers or donations to be made to the Abbeville First Baptist Church Memorial Fund or the Kent Dozier Memorial Scholarship Fund.
