Martha L. Powell

Martha L. Powell, age 75, went to be with Jesus on January 16, 2020, while surrounded by family and friends at her 887 Powell Road Residence. She graduated from Wilcox County High School and attended almost 2 years of college. She was par professional for the Wilcox County School System for 41 years until she retired in 2018. She was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir as long as she could, and was Sunday School Secretary for 41 years. She was a member of the Women on Missions and worked with Bible drills in years gone by and also worked faithfully with the Acteens. She loved the Family Ministry Center and worked there as long as she was able.Martha also enjoyed playing the piano. Martha was born July 10, 1944, in Ben Hill County, to the late Melton P. and Mary Lucille Mitchell Powell.She is survived by her brothers, Marvin Powell of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Mel Powell (Alice) of Pitts; her niece and nephews: Nicole (Trace) Lee of Colorado Springs, Stacy Colvin (Ruth) of Fredricksburg, TX, Doug Powell (Rebecca), and Andrew Powell both of Pitts, and her great-nieces and nephews, Aubree and Drew Powell both of Pitts, Mabry Proctor (Steven) of Arlington, TX, Madison Colvin, Faith Lee and James Lee, and a great-great-nephew, Oakley Colvin all of Colorado Springs. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 19, at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Larry Wilbanks and Rev. Eddie Wilcox officiating.Visitation will be from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.Interment will be in Union Cemetery. Frazier and Son Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
