Margaret "Suzy" Rhodes Cranford

Mrs. Margaret Rhodes Cranford, affectionately known as “Suzy”, age 90, died peacefully on February 12.  She was lovingly attended to by her family, Harris House caregivers, Trinity Hospice Care Team and friends.

Suzy was born on July 22, 1932, in Wilcox County, Georgia, the daughter of the late George Timothy Rhodes and Doris Vivian Davidson Rhodes.  Suzy was one of seven children and she loved her family dearly.

Suzy married the love of her life, James Duron Cranford, in 1949.  They moved to Macon, Georgia as newlyweds where they enjoyed and cherished 64 years of marriage and were blessed with 3 children, Gayle, Vicky and Kenny.

Suzy was a gifted Gardener.  She was a Federated Garden Club Member for 50 plus years as well as a Lifetime Member and served in countless capacities.  Suzy loved her time outside “communing with God and Nature”.

Suzy was a lady of many talents.  She became a paraprofessional with the Bibb County Board of Education where she loved working with special needs high school students as well as supervising her vocational students with their work/study internships.  She also served as Special Events coordinator and manager at The Neel House Headquarters of the Federated Garden Club of Macon.

Suzy loved the churches she and Daddy were members of and was active in choir, Sunday School and served on various committees.  They led by example and provided their family with a Faith based home.  Suzy loved to play golf with “her ladies”, her Pine Ridge Garden Club Friends, beach trips and travel with her family.  Suzy always packed Yummy picnics and snacks for any excursion!

Suzy loved the Lord, her life with Daddy, her family and dear friends.  She doted on her 3 children, 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grands.

Suzy is preceded in death by her husband, James Cranford, and 5 siblings.  She is survived by her 3 loving children: daughters, Gayle Farmer of Macon, Vicky Wyche (Jack) of Milton; son, Kenny Cranford (Lisa) of Kingsland; 4 grandchildren:  Nancy Sandifer, Aaron Cranford, Emily Wyche Adams and David Wyche; 4 great-grandchildren, Robbie Riley, Bryce Adams, Coastlyn Cranford, and Everett Adams; 2 siblings:  Thelbert Rhodes and Billy Rhodes and beloved nieces and nephews.

The funeral service to Celebrate and Honor Suzy’s life will be on Friday, February 17, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary of Birmingham United Methodist Church, 15770 Birmingham Hwy., Milton, GA 30004.  Following the service, please join the family for visitation and lunch at the home of Jack and Vicky Wyche, 225 Buckland Run, Milton, GA 30004.

A service of Celebration and Interment of Ashes will be on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. at Pleasant View Baptist Church, 74 Spruce Ln., Pitts, GA 31072.  Please join the family for Visitation and Refreshments following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.
