Lucile C. Dowdy, age 89 of 129 8th Street North, Pitts, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2009 in the Cordele Health and Rehab.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 27, 2009 in the Pitts Baptist Church.Reverend Ray Burnette and Reverend Bobby Sheffield will officiate.Interment will be in the Pitts Cemetery. Mrs. Dowdy was born on August 28, 1920 in Upson County.She was daughter of the late Sam Clements and Mary Johnson Clements.She had lived in Wilcox County since 1941 moving from Irwinville, Ga.She was a retired beautician and member of the Pitts Baptist Church and the Ladies Adult Sunday School Class. Survivors include:husband-Rev. Jack Dowdy of Pitts, daughters-Jackie (Jackie W.) Sumner of Norman Park and Vickie (Mike) Parker of Macon, brothers-Gerald Clements of Mississippi and Wayne Clements of Atlanta, sisters-Reba C. Crumley of Valdosta and Marie C. Hand of Brunswick, 3-grandchildren and 6-great-grandchildren. Deacons of Pitts Baptist Church will serve as active pallbearers and the Ladies Adult Sunday School Class will serve as honorary. Alex Clements will play soft piano music and sing “Old Rugged Cross” and “Amazing Grace”. Frazier and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
