Lorraine Newell, age 84 of Pitts, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017 in the Tift Regional Hospital.Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Friday, June 30, 2017 in the Union Baptist Church.Visitation was one hour before the service in the church from 10-11 AM.Reverend Larry Wilbanks and Reverend Doug Jamesofficiated.Interment was in the family plot in the Union Cemetery. Mrs. Newell was born on October 7, 1932 in Pitts, Ga.She was daughter of the late Arnell B. Watson and Irene Wood Watson.She was a Paraprofessional with the Wilcox County Board of Education for 25 years.She also worked at the Casual Wear and Cordele Uniform.She was a member of the Pitts Baptist Church and she enjoyed fellowship with friends at the Rochelle Senior Center. She was married to the late Alfred Mack Newell in 1949. Survivors include:son-Mickey (Delia) Newell of Pitts, daughter-Jurice Oliver of Pitts, sister-Lounell Davis of Hawkinsville, grandchildren-Clay (Valerie) Oliver, Clint (Jennifer) Oliver, Miranda Newell, Megan Newell, Mallory Newell, Jennifer (Carter) Harrison, great-grandchildren-Maci Oliver, Ty Oliver, Ann Oliver, Maggie, Oliver, Mollie Oliver and Carl Cason III, many loved nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were: Active-Jackie Clements, Darrell McBryant, Steve Crawford, Trey McBryant, Mike Guest and Bobby McKinney.Honorary will be Woody Hall,Shawn Coker and Jeff Wessel. Alex Clementsplayed prelude and postlude and sang “House of Gold” and “Feeling Fine” accompanied by Clay Oliver. Frazier & Son Funeral Home in Rochelle had charge of arrangements.
