Lonnie E. Rhodes, 92, of Warner Robins, Georgia passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022.
Born in Dooly County, he was the oldest son of Lester Paul Rhodes and Annie Sangster Rhodes. He grew up in Dooly and Wilcox counties where he farmed with his father and brother and served as a partner in the Rhodes and Sons Texaco Service station and grocery store in Abbeville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War, and he worked for the U.S. Postal Service. He began working as a Civil Servant at Robins Air Force Base in 1956 and moved to Warner Robins in 1957. Lonnie was devoted to his family and his faith and was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Warner Robins and the Fidelity Sunday School Class.
He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Eloise Standridge Rhodes. He is survived by his son, Donald E. Rhodes (Theresa); daughter, Elizabeth Harrell (Tim); brother, Felton L. Rhodes; brother-in-law, Charles E. Standridge; sister-in-law, Frances Standridge; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, February 25 in the M.G. Frazier Memorial Chapel of Frazier and Son Funeral Home in Rochelle, Georgia with Rev. Ken Morgan officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Stubbs Cemetery in Abbeville, with military honors.
