Lois G. Spears

Lois G. Spears, age 90, formerly of Abbeville, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2023, in Hawkinsville, Georgia, at her son’s residence.  She was a retired bank teller with the old Dorsey State Bank, and a member of the Abbeville United Methodist Church.

Lois was born November 14, 1932, in Columbus, Georgia, to the late Samuel Dewey George and Dora Lee Bruce George.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Billy Spears; her daughter, Cathy Clinton; her brother, Dewey George; and two sisters, Dorothy Louise Johnson and Dora Frances Standridge.

Survivors include a son, William Ray Spears, Jr. (Danielle); a daughter, Marcia Faye Finch (James Ray); 4 grandchildren:  Zack Williams, April Finch, Martina Spears, and Williams Spears; and 2 great-grandchildren:  Elijah and Evan Williams.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 26th, at 3:00 p.m. at the Abbeville United Methodist Church with Rev. Chuck Taylor officiating.  She will be laid to rest by her daughter, in Stubbs Cemetery.   Visitation will be at the church from 2:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
