Lois Townsend Rhodes

Lois Townsend Rhodes, age 97 of 313 Allen Memorial Dr., Milledgeville, passed away Monday, June 24, 2013 in Milledgeville.Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 27th in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.Dr. Jerry Pickard and Brother Louie Tripp will officiate.Interment will be in the family plot in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.Visitation will be one hour before the service at 10:00 AM in the church. The family also received friends at Williams Funeral Home in Milledgeville Tuesday, June 25, 2013 from 6-8PM. Mrs. Rhodes was born on February 11, 1916 in Ashburn. She was daughter of the late Taylor Townsend and Alice Pate Townsend.She was the widow of the late M. C. Rhodes.She was retired from Doster’s Warehouse and was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Milledgeville.She was pianist at Pleasant Grove and Pine City Churches for over 40 years.She was preceded in death by a son, Harry Rhodes and granddaughter, Juanika Rhodes and sisters, Elnita Pitts, Mary Stephens, Elise Hampton and brothers, Tiny, Jack, and Buddy Townsend. Survivors include her daughter-Carol Brookins and 2-grandchildren Pam Brookins and Bill Brookins all of Milledgeville and a sister-Sara Swenson of Fernandina Beach, Florida. Pallbearers are:Scott Stephens, Troy Pitts, Larry Peacock, John Rhodes, Charles Mobley and Walt Townsend. Music was provided by Stanley Hobbs. Frazier and Son Funeral Home in Rochelle is in charge of arrangements.
