Joyce Ann Davis

Joyce Ann Davis, 82 of Pitts, Ga went to her final resting place on October 11, 2023. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday October 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Double Run Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Quillian Barfield and Rev. Bobby Brown officiating.

She was born on November 4, 1940 at her family’s home. As a young teenager she met the love of her life, Alf, whose family’s farm neighbored her family’s farm. Their love story officially began 65 years ago when they were married. They later welcomed four beautiful children into the world whom she loved dearly: Johnny, Mike, Sherri, and Grant.

She was a beautician early on in her beautiful life and later became a seamstress at Duck Head Factory in Ashburn. After many years of perfecting her art at a sewing machine, she left there to finish her career at Wilcox State Prison.

Joyce was a devoted wife and mother, and she loved the Lord fiercely. She knew the Bible well and played the piano “by ear” her entire life. She was a devoted member and pianist at her beloved church; Double Run Baptist. She loved to cook, sew, sit on the front porch, watch the Braves with Alf, and always enjoyed visits from family and friends.

Although our hearts will greatly miss her, we know when she reached her final resting place that Jesus said, “Well done thy good and faithful servant!” We know those who have gone on before her indeed met her at heaven’s gate.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlisle and Pearl Johnson;, her sisters,  Alice Johnson and Geraldine Kelly; her brothers: JM, Elmer, Gordon and Richard Johnson; and a beautiful daughter in-law she loved dearly, Myra Davis.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Alf Davis, and her four children: Johnny, Mike, Sherri and Grant (Megan) Davis; and her sister, Virginia Hurley.. She is also survived by six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren whom she dearly loved.
