John B. Mcwhorter

John B. McWhorter, Jr., age 73 of Rochelle, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 in the Medical Center Navicent Health in Macon.Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 6th in the First Baptist Church of Rochelle.Reverend Joey Boney, Reverend David Clark and Reverend Richard Comptonofficiated.He was transported to Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Owensboro in his boat for interment. Mr. McWhorter was born on January 18, 1945 in Owensboro.He was son of the late J. B. McWhorter and Mardelle E. Stonecypher McWhorter.He was Shop Foreman with the Doster Peanut Company and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rochelle.He was a former member and deacon at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He was avid outdoorsman. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhoda Sercer and a brother, Dr. Charles McWhorter. Survivors include:wife-Jackie McWhorter of Rochelle, mother-in-law-Elise Rhodes of Cordele, son-Trey McWhorter of Owensboro, daughter-Kathy (Mike) Burnette of Pitts, brothers-Nelson (Mary Nell) McWhorter of Rochelle and Sidney McWhorter of Owensboro, sisters-Lillie (Raleigh) Gibbs of Abbeville and Elvira Biggers of Rebecca, grandchildren-Andrea Williams, Olivia Sercer, Jackson Burnette, Carson Burnette, Katie Burnette, Preston McWhorter and BoDee McWhorter and great-grandchildren-Lane Williams and Harrison Clark.
