James M. Stewart, Sr.

James M. Stewart, Sr., age 77 of Pineview, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2011 at his residence.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, June 27 in the Pineview Baptist Church.Dr. Kim Conley will officiate.Interment will be in the Roberta City Cemetery at 4:00 PM with Masonic Rites. Mr. Stewart was born on August 30, 1933 in Roberta, Ga.He was son of the late Joseph T. Stewart and Mabel Haire Stewart.He was Nursing Home Administrator at the Pineview Health Care Center from 1967-1986 and was a member of the American College of Health Care Administrators, the Georgia Health Care Association and the Advisory Council of Area Health/Mental Retardation of Middle Georgia.He was a member of the Pineview Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, taught Sunday School and was involved in many church committies.He was Past Master of Pineview Charles Bass Masonic Lodge #130 and member of the Rochelle Masonic Lodge #190 with 50 years of service as a Mason.He was Past President of the Hawkinsville rotary Club, the Ocmulgee Shrine Club and the Georgia Nursing Home Association.He was a member of the Al Sihah Shrine, Macon, Ga. –Past Jester and had served on the Al Sihah Temple Corporation.He was a member of the American Legion Post #125, the Provost Guard Unit and the Eastern Star at Pineview.He served his country with honor in the United States Army.He was preceded in death by a son, Jaye Stewart in 1996. Survivors include:wife-Gainelle Stewart of Pineview, daughter and son-in-law-Susan and Doni Helms of Marietta, sister-June Stewart Hortman of Hawkinsville, 6-grandchildren and 6-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at the Stewart residence, 338 Warren St., Pineview, Ga.from 4-6 PM Sunday, June 26th. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to Pineview Baptist Church or the Shriner’s Hospital. Frazier and Son Funeral Home in Rochelle is in charge of arrangements.
