James Powers

James Powers, age 90 of Pitts, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018 at his residence.Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, September 3rd in the Pleasant View Cemetery.Visitation will be in the church social hall after the service.Reverend Gary Griffin and Reverend Jimmy Black will officiate the service. Mr. Powers was born on March 24, 1928 in Pitts.He was son of the late Ambers James Powers and Bertha Johns Powers.He was married to the late Joyce Rhodes Powers for 68 years.He was a retired B-52 aircraft mechanic from Robins Air Force Base and was a farmer.He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.He was preceded in death by a son-Don Powers in 2007, 3-sisters and 1-brother. Survivors include:brother-Wayne (Candi) Powers of Swainsboro, sisters-Helen (Alec) Newsome of Cordele, Jean (Tommy) Sheridan of Kathleen and is also survived by Barbara (Jerry) Whittington of Rochelle, 3-grandchildren, 6-great-grandchildren and 4-great-great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be:Kim Purvis, Mark Rhodes, Richie Rhodes, Stan Rhodes, Robert Marshall and Keith Holiday. A CD by Randy Travis, "He Walked On Water" was played.
