James Billy Ashe

James Billy Ashe, 73, of Abbeville, Georgia passed away May 3, 2019 after a short but courageous battle with cancer.Mr. Ashe was born September 6, 1945 to the late James and Ida Pearl Ashe in Abbeville, Georgia.He was married to the late Patricia Renew Ashe for a wonderful 49 years.Mr. Ashe retired from the Delphi battery plant in Fitzgerald.Prior to entering the workforce, he served his country in the U. S. Army in the Vietnam War.He was a member of Siloam Baptist Church.Mr. Ashe was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, enjoyed woodworking, and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his daughter Faith (Lee) Thomas of Columbia, South Carolina, his son, Jamie (Niesi) Ashe of Abbeville, his grandchildren, Savanna, Zakary and Lily Grace Thomas all of Columbia, S. C., and Camden, Weston, and Emersyn Ashe of Abbeville, brother, Johnny (Barbara) Ashe of Abbeville, sisters-in-law Joyce Dowdy of Rhine, Jo Ann (Ed) Henderson of Dearing, Rhonda (Harry) Smith of Abbeville, brother-in-law, Glenn (Genie) Renew of Hazlehurst, and many loved nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a sister, Judy Hollingsworth of Abbeville, and a brother-in-law, Charles Renew. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 5, 2019 from 2:00-3:00 PM at Siloam Baptist Church in Abbeville with graveside services immediately following.Reverend Joey Boney will officiate the ceremony. Active pallbearers at the service will be Rusty Smith, Johnny Ashe, Jr., Andrew Ashe and Larry Harrell.Honorary pallbearers will be Danny McBryde and Steve Ottison. Charles Fisher will sing “Amazing Grace”. The family wishes to thank Reflections Hospice for their wonderful compassion and care.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Siloam Baptist Church or Reflections Hospice.The family will gather at his home at 7808 Owensboro Road, Abbeville.
