Mr. Jackie Brown, 78, of 321 South Bowen St., Abbeville, Ga., died Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 6th in Lebanon Baptist Church.Reverend Chuck Taylor, Ronnie McDuffie and Reverend Tommy Baker will officiate.Interment will be in the family plot in the New Hope Cemetery in Abbeville. Mr. Brown was born in Abbeville, Wilcox County, November 12, 1936 to Fred and Bertha Statham Brown.Mr. Brown worked at Wilcox Builders Supply for many years before starting his own carpenter business, Brown and Son Builders with his son, Johnny.He had built many houses in Wilcox and surrounding counties and some of his most well known buildings are Lebanon Baptist Church, Cannonville Baptist Church and Bethlehem Church.Mr. Brown served as a Abbeville City Council member for 8 years and as the Mayor Pro-Tem for 2 years.He loved to fish with friends and family and was an avid NASCAR fan.He was preceded in death by 2 sons-Jimmy A. Brown and Johnny E. Brown. Survivors include:wife-Betty S. Brown of Abbeville, daughters-Jacklyn (James) Collier of Abbeville, Penny (Robert) Harris of Abbeville and Tammy Hughes of Abbeville, sons-David (Marsha) Brown of Abbeville andRobin (Angie) Brown of Abbeville, brothers-Gene Brown of Kathleen and Dan Brown of Albany, sisters-Betty Hanson of Abbeville and Lillian.He had 9-grandchildren and 9-great-grandchildren, grandsons-Jimmy Collier, Scotty Collier and Jackie Collier, Lance Brown, Johnny Brown, Jason Hughes and Ricky Greer and his two granddaughters, Misty Hughes and Brittany Greer and great-grandchildren-grandsons-Logan Collier, Tyler Collier, Johnny Brown, Jr., Colton Brown, granddaughters-Mixie Hughes, Jayden Brown, Kalysta Hughes, Paislee Hollingsworth and Lily Greer. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Monday, January 5th in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be:Lance Brown, Johnny Brown, Jason Hughes, Ricky Greer, Jimmy Collier and Logan Collier.Honorary will be:Jake Clements, Terry Gibbs, James Collier, Marty Wilson, Robert Harris, Ronnie McDuffie and Jackie Coleman. Prelude and postlude will be played by Jill McDuffie.Johnny Brown will sing, “Lon Black Train”, “House of Gold”, “Amazing Grace” and “I Saw the Light”. Frazier and Son Funeral Home in Rochelle is in charge of arrangements.
