Harold E. McWhorter, beloved husband, father, grandfather, born October 4, 1930 in Owensboro, Georgia, married 62 years to his high school sweetheart, Joanne Whittle McWhorter, and resident of Roswell for over 48 years, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 in Roswell.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, November 9th in the Christian Home Baptist Church.Reverend David Clark will officiate.Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 PM in the church before the service.Interment will be in the family plot in the Christian Home Cemetery. He is survived by two siblings Bobby James McWhorter of Macon and Autry Marcus McWhorter of Pitts; two children, Donna McWhorter Gulley of Sugarland, Texas and Glyn McWhorter of Alpharetta; four grandchildren, Katie Gulley Coffey of Tacoma, Washington, Nathaniel McWhorter of Anniston, Alabama, Sean McWhorter of Alpharetta and Justin McWhorter of Canton, and five great-grandchildren, Eowyn and Blazin Wyatt Austin Coffey and Rylan Hope, Elizabeth Jean and David Blake McWhorter. A veteran of the United States Air Force, Harold graduated from Southern Tech before beginning his career at Univac Corporation as a mainframe computer engineer, where he was later named Employee of the Year.He retired after 30 years of service in 1986.He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Roswell, avid baseball fan and fisherman, and deeply devoted to his family.
