George Osborne Ballew age 89 of Moultrie, formerly of Greenville, SC passed away Friday at the Emory University Hospital Midtown in Atlanta.Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 27th in the Antioch Methodist Chapel at Magnolia Manor South, 3011 Veterans Parkway, Moultrie, Ga. 31788.Rev. Stan Ballew and Rev. Dot Stewart will officiate the service. Mr. Ballew was born on May 20, 1928 in Greenville, SC.He was son of the late Alice Waites Ballew.He was retired Captain from the City of Greenville, SC Fire Department.He was a member of the Abbeville United Methodist Church and the Walden Masonic Lodge #274 F&AM for 76 years in Greenville, SC.He was founder and former member of the Augusta Heights Baptist Church in Greenville, SC.He was preceded in death by a son, George Ballew, Jr.He served his country with honor in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Survivors include:wife-Frances Ballew of Moultrie, son-Reverend Stan (Suzanne) Ballew of Abbeville, daughter-in-law-Rita Ballew of Reidville, SC, grandchildren-Eric (Tracy) Ballew, Stacie Ballew, Tammy B. (Phillip) Walker and Melissa B. (Ben) Foote and great-grandchildren-Hannah (Landon) Turner, Kaylea Ballew and Eli Walker. Prelude and postlude will be played by Teresa Stewart.Suzanne Ballew will sing "How Great Thou Art". Frazier and Son Funeral Home in Rochelle is in charge of arrangements.
