Gary E. Barefoot

Gary E. Barefoot, age 66, of Pitts, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023, at Navicent Health Medical Center, Macon, Georgia.

A lifelong resident of the Pleasant View community of Pitts, Gary was born on April 2, 1957, in Hawkinsville, Georgia, to the late Jeral and Rudena Cranford Barefoot.  He grew up farming with his family and was a 1975 graduate of Wilcox County High School.  After graduation, Gary attended Valdosta College and began pursuing a degree in communications.  He enjoyed his employment with the radio station in Cordele.

Gary was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.  He enjoyed watching sports and was a devoted fan of the Atlanta Braves.  He loved his family and his church family.  Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Jeral and Rudena Barefoot; his brother, Terry Barefoot; and his sister, Debra Barefoot Sutton.  Survivors include his nieces, Brooke (Brian) Thompson and Leah (Mitch) Turner; great-nieces, Haven (Tyler) Dorman, Ava Thompson, and Delanie Turner; and several cousins.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 22nd, at 1:00 p.m. at the Pleasant View Church Cemetery, with Bro. Jimmy Black officiating.  Visitation with family will follow the service.
