G. T. "Theron" Newman age 82 of 5075 Hwy. 129, Abbeville, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2008 in the Dodge County Hospital.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, September 20, 2008 in the Cannonville Baptist Church.Rev. Jim Faircloth and Rev. Chuck Taylor will officiate.Interment will be in the Cannonville Cemetery. Mr. Newman was born on November 25, 1925 in Wilcox County.He was son of the late Lonnie Newman and Alma Heath Newman.He was a member of the Cannonville Baptist Church and was Owner/Operator of Abbeville Sales and Service for 41 years.He served his country with honor in the United States Merchant Marines and the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.He was preceded in death by a son Kenneth "Pete" Newman in 2004. Survivors include:wife-LaQuita W. Newman of Abbeville, sons-Keith Newman of Abbeville and Kelvin "Bo" Newman of Roswell, brother-Randall Newman of Collins, sisters-Vivian Hancock of Dublin, Margene Hollingsworth of Abbeville, and Myrtle Conley of Rhine, and 5-grandchildren and 2-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 7-9 PM Friday, September 19, 2008 in the funeral home. Frazier and Son Funeral Home in Rochelle has charge of arrangements.
