Ernest Braziel, Jr., age 97 of Rochelle, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014 at his residence.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, March 16th in the First Baptist Church of Rochelle.Reverend David Gordon and Reverend Jim Wiley will officiate.Visitation will be one hour from 1-2 PM at the Braziel residence at 1015 5th Avenue, Rochelle.Interment will be in the family plot in the Morningside Cemetery with Military Honors and Masonic Rites. Mr. Braziel was born on January 3, 1917 in Rochelle.He was son of the late Ernest Braziel and Ella Mae Whitten Braziel.He was a retired Wilcox County Tax Collector.He was the oldest member of the First Baptist Church of Rochelle.He was on the Board of Directors at the Rochelle State Bank, member of the Gridiron Secret Society, University of GA. Chapter.He was a member of the Rochelle Masonic Lodge #71 and was Worshipful Master from 1962-1963 with 65 years of service.He received the 25 year Award in 1974, the 50 year Award in 1999 and the Emeritus Member Award in 1989. He served his country with honor in the United States Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife Martha Carter Braziel. Survivors include:daughters-Ann (Delane) Titshaw of Rochelle and Ernestine Braziel of Rochelle, brother-Robert Braziel of Rochelle, grandchildren-Jennifer B. Clark and Rhett, Melissa B. Binford and Coleman, Jeffrey P. Johnson and Anna, great-grandchildren-Rhett Clark, Rachael Clark, Ryan Clark, Haley Binford and Emily Binford and Brooks and Bryce Johnson.
