Edgar H. Layfield

Edgar H. Layfield, age 85 of Seville, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at his residence.Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 31st in the Seville Cemetery.Reverend Lawton Sammons will officiate. Mr. Layfield was born on August 26, 1928 in Seville.He was son of the late Jessie Daniel Layfield and Louise F. Pierce Layfield.He was a retired welder with Marine Corps Supply Center in Albany.He was of the Baptist Faith.He served his country with honor in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.He was recipient of the Good Conduct, National Defense, Korean Service and China Service Medals.He was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, hunting, and loved his dog, Bo. Survivors include:wife-Joyce N. Layfield of Pitts, daughters-Shirley (Frank) Wise of Cordele, Martha Barrett of Perry, Kathy (Rick) Cummings of Fort Valley, brothers-Cecil Layfield of Cordele and James Layfield of Ashburn, sisters-Mary Parham of Vienna and Linnie Greene of Rochelle, 6-grandchildren, 15-great-grandchildren and 1-great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Thursday, January 30th in the funeral home. Frazier and Son Funeral Home in Rochelle has charge of arrangements.
