Dorothy P. Gibbs

Dorothy P. Gibbs, age 77, of Abbeville, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023, at her residence. She was a retired clerk with the Wilcox County Courthouse, and a former employee with Crump Steel and Crump’s Convenient Store.

Dorothy was born April 16, 1946, in Ashburn, Georgia, to the late Noah Leroy Phillips and Ruby Brooks Phillips.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Randy Gibbs; a sister, Pearl Payne, and a great-granddaughter, Clara Grace James.

Survivors include her son, Tracy Gibbs; her daughter, Debora Shoemaker (Vince); three brothers, Charles Phillips, Arthur Phillips (Lana), and Dennis Phillips; a sister, Barbara Keen; her grandchildren, Robert Shoemaker (Jordan), Brittany James (Russ), and Kaylyn Holt; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 5th, at 2:00 p.m. in the M.G. Frazier Memorial Chapel of Frazier & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Rodney Gibbs and Rev. Chuck Taylor officiating.  Interment will be in Stubbs Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
