Doris K. Rountree

Doris K. Rountree, age 88, of Pitts, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021, at her residence.She was a retired social worker with the Wilcox County Department of Family & Children’s Services, and a member of Pitts Baptist Church where she was the former pianist. Doris was born February 13, 1933, in Pitts, Georgia, to the late Perry Luther King and Mary Elizabeth Lovett King.She was also preceded in death by her husband, Julian Rountree, and her 2 sons, Ricky and Eddie Rountree.She is survived by her granddaughter, Whitney Rountree of Hinesville; her daughter-in-law, Kay Rountree of Pitts; several nieces and nephews, and a special cousin. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 23rd, at 2:00 p.m. in Pitts Baptist Church with Rev. Doug James officiating.Music will be provided by Alex Clements.Interment will be in Pitts Cemetery.Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. in the church.Pallbearers will be Bobby Rountree, Clark Rountree, Darrell McBryant, Darrell Storey, Wesley Rountree, and Scotty Owens.
