Don Browning, age 77 of Abbeville, passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 at his residence.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 5, 2014 in the Cannonville Baptist Church.Reverend Tommy Day Wilson and Reverend Joel Owens will officiate.Interment will be in the family plot in the Cannonville Cemetery with military rites. Mr. Browning was born on February 4, 1937 in Lavonia, Ga.He had lived in Abbeville since 1975. He was son of the late Walter Obie Browning and Gladys Manley Browning.He served his country with honor and retired with many years in the United States Air Force.He received many honors, awards and ribbons.He received the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award and the Organizational Excellence Award.He received the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal.He received several ribbons such as, AF Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, Longevity Service Award Ribbon, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Training Ribbon and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon.He was a Professional Military Education Graduate and received the Distinguished Presidential Unit Citation.He was of the Baptist Faith and was preceded in death by a brother, Terrell Browning. Survivors include:wife-Keema Browning of Abbeville, son-Eric Browning of Abbeville, daughters-Katrina Barron of Rhine, Mikki Spinks of Athens and Krissy Barber of Athens, brother-Talmadge Browning of Mt. Holly, NC, 9-grandchildren and 6-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Tuesday, March 4th in the funeral home. Frazier and Son Funeral Home in Rochelle is in charge of arrangements.
