Dillard E. Gibbs, age 73 of Abbeville, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2012 in the Taylor Regional Hospital.A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 1st in the Rochelle United Methodist Church.Reverend David Barton, Reverend Royce Freeman and Reverend Nancylee Cater will officiate.Visitation will be one hour before the service from 1-2 PM in the church. Mr. Gibbs was born on November 6, 1939 in Abbeville, Ga.He was son of the late Malcolm and Willie McKinney.He was a retired Civil Service Employee in Civil Engineering at Robins Air Force Base for 30 years.He was a Maintenance Supervisor with the Wilcox State Prison for 6 years and Radio Dispatcher and Jailer for the Rochelle Police Department for 16 years. He was a devoted husband, father and papa and was a member of the Rochelle United Methodist Church.He is preceded in death by a sister, Laverne McDuffie and step-mother, Shirley McKinney. Survivors include:Wife-Carolyn Gibbs of Abbeville, daughters-Debbie Gibbs of Rochelle and Lanie Gibbs of Savannah, adopted daughter-Sandra Smith of Savannah, several half brothers and sisters, grandchildren-Ross (Jocelyn) Black and Holly Cross, great grandchildren-Jared Black , Joel Jim and Jay Jim.
