Diann Taylor “Aunt Bea” Roberts, age 72 of Abbeville, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019 in the Houston Medical Center surrounded by her loved ones.Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, September 4th in the Siloam Cemetery.Reverend Ronnie Griner and Reverend David Clark will officiate. Mrs. Roberts was born on June 8, 1947 in Tifton, Ga.She was daughter of the late Aileen Wilson Taylor.She married her high school sweetheart on June 11, 1966 a week after graduating from Fitzgerald High School.She worked in a variety of jobs.She was best known as her role as jailer/dispatcher with the Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office where she was affectionately known as “Aunt Bea”.She retired with 23 years of service. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Craig Roberts, Jr. in 2014.She had a very out going and curious personality and will be missed by all that knew her.She never met a stranger that she couldn’t strike up an hour conversation. Survivors include:husband-Douglas Roberts of Abbeville, her niece-Dana Roberts (Bobby) Adkins of Macon that she considered her daughter and 2-granddaughters-Kristen Roberts and Bridgette Roberts of Uriah, Alabama. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Tuesday, September 3rd in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Association.
