Charles E. Mitchell

Charles E. Mitchell, age 92 of Rochelle, passed away Friday, March 16, 2012 in the Life Care Center in Fitzgerald.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, March 19th in the M. G. Frazier Memorial Chapel of Frazier and Son Funeral Home.Reverend Christopher Mitchell and Reverend David Clark will officiate.Interment will be in the family plot in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Mr. Mitchell was born on July 10, 1919 in Muesella, Ga.He was son of the late Charles (Bud) Mitchell and Martha McClain Mitchell.He was a retired Radio Dispatcher with the Rochelle Police Department and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.He served his country with honor in the United States Army.He was one of the few Pearl Harbor survivors. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Mae Clements Mitchell. Survivors include:Sons-John E. (Paula) Mitchell of Abbeville, Charles A. (Rita) Mitchell of Valley Head, Alabama and Howard L. (Nancy) Mitchell, daughters-Charlie Mae Luke of Rochelle and Thelma (Jimmy) Gibbs of Abbeville, sister-Addie Alford of Fitzgerald, 8-grandchildren and 4-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 7-9 PM Sunday in the funeral home. The family may be contacted at the residence of John and Paula Mitchell, 6483 Hwy 215 South, Abbeville, Ga. Frazier and Son Funeral Home in Rochelle is in charge of arrangements.
