Cecil "Tad" Layfield

Cecil “Tad” Layfield, age 82 of Cordele, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2025 in the Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 12th in the M. G. Frazier Memorial Chapel of Frazier and Son Funeral Home.  Visitation will be one hour before the service from 10-11 AM in the chapel.  Johnny Davis will officiate.  Interment will be in the Morningside Cemetery.

Mr. Layfield was born on July 1, 1942 in Pitts, Ga.  He was son of the late Jesse D. Layfield and Louise Pierce Layfield.  He was a retired crane operator with Harris Press & Shear in Cordele.  He was a member of the Waffle House Breakfast Club receiving a 25 year attendance pin.  He loved to work on lawnmowers.  He is preceded in death by a brother, Edgar H. Layfield and sister, Eleanor Brock.

Survivors include:  brothers-James (Myrtle) Layfield and Phillip Croft and sisters-Mary Parham, Linnie Greene, Patti Croft, Carolyn Croft, Barbara Owens, Rhonda Barefoot, Marjorie Yow and a sister-in-law, Joyce Layfield and several nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Morningside Cemetery Trust, P. O. Box 156, Rochelle, Ga. 31079.
Frazier and Son Funeral and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
