Bob R. Young, SMSGT (Ret) age 82 of 785 4th Avenue, Rochelle passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at his residence.A Memorial Service with full military honors will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, December 21, 2012 in the Rochelle United Methodist Church with Reverend Nancylee Cater officiating.Visitation will be from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM in the church before the service.In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be made to the Rochelle United Methodist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 472, Rochelle, Ga. 31079. Mr. Young was born on December 15, 1930 in Indianapolis, Indiana.He was son of the late Buell M. Young and Goldia Webster Young.He was a retired Civil Service Employee in the Heavy Equipment Mechanic Department at the Marine Corps Logistic Center.He was of the Methodist Faith and was a member of the Mallard Point Golf Club and the Retired Enlisted Association.He served his country with pride, honor, courage and commitment for 20 years in the United States Air Force where he served in Korea and two tours of duty in Vietnam.He was the recipient of many awards, medals, and commendations.He was a very dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Survivors include: dedicated wife of 58 years-Ethel Young of Rochelle, sons-Lloyd Cross Young of Albuquerque, N. M. and Stephen Robert Young of Colorado Springs, Colorado, daughters-Melanie Y. Ramirez of Rochelle and Barbara Y. Atherton of Cordele, brother-Jack R. Young of San Antonio, Texas, 9-grandchildren and 2-great-grandchildren. Prelude and postlude will be played by Rhonda Henderson and Holly Howell will sing “Amazing Grace”. Frazier and Son Funeral Home in Rochelle has charge of arrangements.
