Benjamin Kirkland

Benjamin T. Kirkland, age 88 of 331 Bowen St., Abbeville, passed away Monday, March 11, 2013 in the Osceola Heritage Health Care.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, March 13th in the Siloam Baptist Church.Visitation will be one hour before the service at 2:00 PM in the church.Reverend Tommy Baker will officiate and Tim Harris will do a eulogy.Interment will be in the family plot in the Siloam Cemetery with military rites. Mr. Kirkland was born on December 13, 1924 in Samson, Alabama.He was son of the late Benjamin Kirkland and Halie Enfinger Kirkland.He was a retired Navy Veteran and was owner/operator of the Northside Barber Shop in Albany for over 35 years.He was a member and Deacon Emeritus of the Siloam Baptist Church. Survivors include:wife of 51 ½ years-Joanne Kirkland of Abbeville, sons-Tim (Terry) Harris of Abbeville and Craig (Hannah) Kirkland of Moultrie, 4-grandsons and a niece-Faye Moring of Dothan, Alabama. Pallbearers will be:active-Kyle Keen, Gary Howell, James Hollingsworth, Lanier Keen, Charles Fisher and Joe Rustin.Honorary-Jake Keene, Dan Allen, James Bass and Jarrell Walker. Music will be provided by Charlotte Rustin and Kristi Childress. Selections will be "In the Garden" and "Because He Lives". Frazier and Son Funeral Home in Rochelle is in charge of arrangements.
