Arthur Lawton Mays

Arthur Lawton Mays, age 83, of Rochelle, passed away Friday, December 16, 2022, in the Crisp Regional Hospital, Cordele, Georgia.  He was a retired self-employed farmer, a member of the Wilcox County Farm Bureau, and former Wilcox County Commissioner.  He was also a member and Deacon Emeritus of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Lawton was born June 8, 1939, in Pineview, Georgia, to the late Dawson and Beatrice Bloodsworth Mays.  He is survived by his wife, Carole Dix Mays; his children, Lynn Mays Carroll (Brad) of Fitzgerald, Lee Mays (Angelia), and Lisa Mays Clark (Jimmy) both of Rochelle; his sister, Sandra M. Fitzgerald; his grandchildren, Daniel Mays (Kasey), Ashley Mays Faircloth (Mitch), Adam Carroll, Mary Madelyn Howell, Lakeyn Howell, Courtney Clark Williard (Cal), Amber Clark McIntyre (Austin), and Andrew Clark; his great-grandchildren, Dawson Mays, Cameron Carroll, Peyton Faircloth, Ava Mays, Hadlee Faircloth, Jaxson Mays, Cason Williard, and Carlin Williard; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, December 18 ^th , at 2:00 p.m., at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, with interment in Morningside Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
