Alex Alston Strickland, age 87 of 7017 Alderwood Drive, Bradenton, Florida, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012 in the Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, July 19th in the Cedar Creek Baptist Church.Dr. Napp Granade will officiate.Interment will be in the family plot in the Cedar Creek Cemetery. Mr. Strickland was born on November 1, 1924 in Tifton, Ga.He was son of the late John Glen Strickland and Rose Marie Sutton Strickland.He had lived in Bradenton, Florida since 1979 moving from Atlanta. He was a Correctional Supervisor and was a member of the Crossroads United Methodist Church.He served his country with honor in the United States Navy duringWorld War II. Survivors include:wife-Katherine Strickland of Bradenton, Florida, son-Charles M. Strickland of Kingsport, Tennessee, daughters-Carol Brush of Sarasota, Florida and Linda Webb of Bradenton, Florida, brother-John Glen Strickland, Jr. of Waverly Hall, Ga., 7-grandchildren and 4-great-grandchildren. Frazier and Son Funeral Home in Rochelle is in charge of arrangements.
